Buffalo High School offers over 55 sports at the 9th Grade, 10th Grade, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels. BHS is a member of the Mississippi 8 Athletic Conference. Formerly a member of the North Suburban Conference, BHS switched conferences before the start of the 2005-2006 school year. The Boys Hockey team plays a split schedule between the Mississippi 8 and the North Suburban Conference.

In addition to a variety of competitive sports, Buffalo High School offers intramurals for each athletic season - ranging from Basketball to Dance Dance Revolution.
