History: Pep Fests

Pep Fests are run through out the school year. The Dance Team, coach Ericka Jessen, cheerleading team, coach Barb Christensen, usually are the stars of the show. They are in the main gymnasium and are during AAA. Pep Fests are a good way to get the students and staff excited for events of the school. especially during homecoming week, where winning is a big deal in our school!

-=The Basics=-

They are put on during AAA in the Gymnasium. They are put on during Homecoming to get the school pumped for the athletic and activies that are going to be happening soon. They are also during snow days. Sometimes they have them to recognize an athletic team or another group that is going to State. The team usually is announced along with the players and maybe a brief description of each.

-=Who Can Participate?=-
Absolutley everyone can attend, and most everyone usually does.Each grade level sits in their own spot in the bleachers. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors sit on the left hand side in their own sections and Seniors on the right. Each group is expected to be respectul and enjoy themselves without being disruptive.

-=How it Works=-
The date & time of the pep fest must be approved by the Activities Director. Then, an agenda of the event is thought up by the group hosting the pep fest. This agenda will need to be presented to the school administrators to get approved and able to run.

-=What You Should Know=-
Not everything goes as planned at these events, like a speaker could cancel, the group running the event will always have a back up plan just in case something goes wrong.

For as long as the school has been here, pep fests have been a part of the school year.

-=Who is Behind It?=-
Homecoming committee- puts on the fall pep rally to help build up the fall sports, then the new teachers and staff is introduced and a game is ususally played to get students and staff together. Then there is a motivational speaker that comes to talk to the students.

Other Pep Fests- are put on by snodaze committee, BHS cheerleaders, and the activities office. Those pep fests are generally related to sports and academics, introducing teams and groups going to state. Usually the cheerleading squad or the dance team will be there to motivate the crowd.
