History: Silent Bowl AuctionSource of version: 5 (current)! The Silent Bowl Auction
The Silent Bowl Auction is a walk through auction where bidders write down their bids on sheets of paper in front of the Artwork that they are bidding on. -=Who Can Participate?=- The Auction usually takes place during another school event such as a choir or band concert. Many art students, parents and anyone who is going to go to the conert or anywho wants to raise money for a charity are welcome to walk through the displays and participate. Anyone is allowed to bid. -=How it Works=- Ceramic displays are set up just outside the Performing Arts Center. Bidders can walk by each bowl where there is a sheet, telling how much a person is willing to bid. Also there is a starting bid of five dollars. As the price is raised so is the donations to charity. -=What You Should Know=- All profits from the Spring Time Auction go to VSA Arts of Minnesota, which is a non-profit organization who promotes the arts for disabled people. -=History=- The Silent Bowl Auction has been running anually for 10 years, but in 2005-2006 school year, due to Hurricane Katrina, the event was held twice, the additional night in December where all proceeds went to the American Red Cross Assc. There was also an action that went to the Brandon Lanie scholarship in 2006-2007. -=Who is Behind It?=- Mr. Holtz the Ceramics and Sculpture I, II, and III teacher organizes the auction and all bidding items are made by the Ceramics II classes. Some of the students also help too. -=Images=- {img src="img/wiki_up/tree.jpg" } {img src="img/wiki_up/rock.jpg" } {img src="img/wiki_up/red.jpg" } {img src="img/wiki_up/bird.jpg" } If there are any pictures that can go with it, post them here.
